WORKERS ARE FIGHTING AND WINNING.

WANT TO LEARN HOW?

In April, workers at the Graduate Hotel New Haven announced their campaign to form a union. Over 80% of the workers signed cards. In May, they won: management voluntarily recognized the union. Negotiations began in July. In August, the workers won their first contract, including raises of up to $6 per hour, great healthcare, and a pension. The Graduate is the first hotel in New Haven to unionize in nearly a quarter of a century: together, these workers made history. WANT TO LEARN TO ORGANIZE?

Learn how workers have united to take back power in the past and present, and how you can take back power for a better future. Whether it’s in your community or workplace, the power of organizing can and has changed lives.

In our online 6 part workshop, we’ll go over tactics that have been proven to work against million dollar corporations when in the hands of workers. Workshops start Wednesday February 1st @ 6pm EST on Zoom and will continue weekly.

APPLY FOR OUR ORGANIZING INTERNSHIP.

As prices skyrocket, the rich are getting richer while we suffer. They want us to be poor and have no say in our futures. We deserve a better world, and we know we have the power to win it.

If you’re passionate about justice for service industry workers and want to learn the fundamentals of labor organizing, Local 217 is hiring for our organizing internship.

Start date is flexible (though sooner is better), and experience is neither required nor preferred

The internship will train you on basic and advanced organizing skills through shadowing and close work with staff organizers as well as a passionate and supportive team of other apprentices.
